Mend Compaq C500 Windows Vista

compaq presario c500- windows vista ?

I have been blocked out of my main user log in account on windows vista. As this is the main account I am unable to complete any downloads etc as the main user password is no longer valid. Can anyone help...I don't really want to have to reset to factory settings!
