No the air filter doesn't have a sensor to alert you to a problem. and if the manual is indicating that the problem is with your emisions system then you should take your vehicle to a repair shop which is equiped with an emisions testing machine. but if you wish to just get the light to go off, then disconnect the negitive battery cable from the battery and wait for about 30 seconde that will clear any codes that may have been thrown. then reattach the negitive cable that should make the check engine light go off. But be advised; you should still take the vehicle to a repair shop so equiped just incase you have a serious problem. ( Note: If your vehicle is equiped with two batteries then you will have to remove both negitive cables to clear the codes.
