Hi Just got a sym city hopper w reg it does 28 mph tops that don't bother me but it does not fire up at times can any one help me please I've changed the spark plug didn't make any difference at all when it's started it's great

Restriction is by CDI only. Just buy a new derestricted one. There are no other restrictions.

I have a sym symply 50 and need help it only just gets 30mph which is rather dissapointing

2 years ago i got a boatian 49cc 4 stroke from argos and it did not seem to be restricted and could do 44mph on a flat road and push 50 on even the slightest test down hill...

you can fit an aprillia sr125 engine in the sym simply, its a 2 stroke 125 ped engine, it takes the sr to about 85mph.
simples, that is if you dont mind spending around £300 on the engine

figured out i dropped a 70cc kit into it and that solved it all now does 55mph with ease :)

I've derestricted my sym symply 50 and it only goes around 34-40mph. How do I make it go faster is there a wire that u can snip or something.

if you take out the carburetor there is also a spacer in there, you need to remove this, im doing myn tomorrow hopefully, and there is also a restriction in the variator, people call this a restriction but it is simply cheating your bike, allowing the rubber band to travel further up the variator. if you go to a mechanic, he can drill out the jet for you, dont do this yourself as its so easy to mess it up.

With a sports cdi chip i can get mine to 50ish on flat but on some small hills it can go as slow as 30, If you want more speed you should of got a 2 stroke , 4 strokes dont have decant speed :(

i have disconnected my cdi restriction
i have a new racing KOSO variator and removed waser/ring
i have 6g rollers

I had my Sym Symply derestricted at my local Sym dealer, but it will only go about 37-40mph max speed, 20-25mph on any kind of incline, plus acceleration is virtually the same as when it was restricted. Is this normal??

I was able to get it up to 37 MPH by removing the spacer under the transmision cover. I am 6 feet and 230 lbs. I would like to get it upto 45 MPH. Any I dea what robspeed did to make yours faster?

Step 1 remove spacer which is between the front variator pulleys. search for variator derestricting.

i've taken mine to robspeed motorcycles in cleethorpe road, grimsby... £60.. goes around 47-52mph.. just take it to local bike dealers.
