my 206 keeps going into idle mode and the engine anagement light come on?

my 206 goes into idle mode and wont go above 30mph then the engine management light beeps and stays on can any one help to find out whats causing it

The only way to find out the cause is to have the car connected to a diagnostic code reader if its gone into imp home mode it is a serious fault
