look at the back of the appliance above the compressor and you should see a grey spout.these get blocked up and cause the defrost water to run into the base of the freezer and freeze.sometimes pinching the spout opens it and bits fall out.if not remove the drip tray from the compressor (wiggle and pull hard) and then remove the spout and poke something up hole.do this when the freezer is defrosting or switched off at mains for several hours as water will come out if the blockage has been cleared and you will then know you have cleared fault.
