When car is stationery after 10 mins of driving from cold, i.e traffic lights and only when at running temperature, engine management light comes on. Result, when pulling away, severe lack of power, revs limit at 4000, this goes on for about 10 seconds then light goes out and power returns.

I had the same symptoms last week with my 2.0 dti estate. The computer said it was injection pump failure - hardly likely as the engine was running albeit with intermitent engine light. The cause - a split in the seam of the rubber union on the vacuum pump? under the air intake hose. Cost - £30.00 for half an hour of a mechanics time and a piece of rubber hose. I suggest you check ALL of the tubes and unions in the engine bay closely - it might just cure it and be cheaper!

I have found the problem, there are 2 valves attached to side of engine bay between radiator reservior and screen wash filler. Four small hoses are attached to these, two in each one. The rubber sleeve on one of these was split allowing air out. It was easy to find as it was making a hissing noise.

I have the same model and the same fault has developed over the last two weeks and has got progressively worse - the light comes on/off whilst on the motorway at 70mph with no other effect. I did find that one vaccumm hose had become detached but that didn't cure the fault. I welcome any other ideas.
