i have a renault clio 53 plate and the rear door has decided not to open - the central locking has no effect , I have removed the door panel and fiddled with as much as i can see but i cannot get the door to open at all. The handles have no resistance to them as if the locking was still on but i can see the locking working inside the door --- Any ideas please?
just spent 2 hours poking and proding at lock from inside door panel before it finaly opened. Release mechanism is behind part that moves when you pull the door handle rod, top left corner of solanoide carrier, just stick a screw driver in and wiggle it about. good luck

no luck guys i done one at the weekend, afraid once you get the door panel off, take the plastic covers off, lock actuator and you have to brake open the lock to realease it, replace the lock, it is the same lock renault use in a lot of there makes so you can get one easly.

I have exactly the same problem (I know, no help here, sorry) Both doors have locked shut at the back and its an MOT failure. If one door remains locked its not (contact Department for Transport).
I have no idea how to open them other than cutting into the door skin...

If the inside manual operating lever feels no pressure the release rod may have come adrift or needs adjusting. I had same prob on a Vauxhall. If you haven't a manual then check with the local library they MAY still lend out some workshop manuals ours in London did, but of course they don't cover all vehicles you may be lucky and they've got one for your car.
