When trying to agitate you smell rubber burning.Took agitator out got to a washer sitting on top of what looked like a rubber boot with a spring in it .The rubber boot looked like it had gotten hot and started coming apart.The drum bearing is right below this boot and spring with what looked like parts of the boot all around it. How do I get to this bearing and could this be the problem?
how do you remove the top to find where a water leak is coming from ?

Hello,
Have you checked the agitator splines to see if they are damaged? Also, that burning smell could be comming from one of the belts underneath the washer perhaps a seized pump?
