my peurgot 306xl wont start I think its the imobiliser?

My Peurgot 306xl wouldn't start it ticks over but wont go I have had the garage out and we have tried everything but it wont start the garage says that the imobiliser pad is locked (it does turn green when I type in the code) I have tried the reste button and typing in a default code , jump starting it etc.I only paid £400 two weeks ago for this car and it was going great now they say to get it fixed Peurgot will charge about £200 which I don't have. Oh dear...time to get your breakdown cover changed to "personal " use.(I have and have used it for "other " cars in the past including all the family`s ! ..naughty but cheap !)
Don`t go changing bits+pieces on a whim of a scrap dealer.

Go back to basics to see why it`s not starting.
Prove petrol at the inlet and the spark at the sparkplugs.

If neither then it`s possibly the immobiliser.

Then you are going to have to either get the fault diagnosed properly by an Auto Electrician so that it will definitely be proven (usually costs around £50 ) ...or try my previous suggestions (Honest John or wire out the immobiliser).
Post back here when you have sorted it out to see what it was. I`m intrigued and am only sorry I can`t be of more help

I`d bite the bullet and get the diagnosis done by the specialist.

Why wouldn`t the breakdown service come out?

If it`s at home (and is covered by the breakdown service...but not "at home" ) , tow it somewhere local (local superstore car park) and don`t tell the truth when you report it.Just say it wouldn`t start.
As I said before , these breakdown chaps know all the tricks to get it going.
Alternatively , try the Honest John website as suggested before. d=Dspite its name it is a reputable website (tied in with the Daily Telegraph I believe)

Thanks. Sorry if I misled you car won't start when I said "ticks over "I should have said sounds like it will start but doesnt, as if theres no spark. Checked battery had garage out they tried everything we tried bump starting and jumping it. Actually bought car for my 18 year old son to go to Glastonbury next week. He drove it home and the first day there was a problem with the water bottle it kept emptying and the car was over heating but sorted it think it was just an air lock next two day ran great. Wednesday wouldn't start got out locked it got back in started I thought imobiliser then Thursday would not start at all. Red light goes to green when you key in the code but nothing will make it go. Tried my break down service (Sam is not in one yet as only had the car two days) and they wouldn't come out.
Thanks for your tips will try.

try disconnecting the battery for ten minutes then replacing it to see if that resets everything.

You say it ticks over OK , so that means it starts OK?
Presumably , then , it means it`s not the immobiliser but possibly the engine management system faulty somewhere.

Alternatively , if you are in a breakdown service (AA etc) call them out as these blokes know all the tricks to start any car.
