my dvd player/recorder will not eject a disc. its a wharfedale dvdr24hd160f?

i inserted a disk into my dvd meant for a computer. the dvd player tries to load it but freezes .pressing the open button does nothing. unplugging the dvd and turning it on again causes the dvd to try load again then it freezes again turning its self off, ie completely dead (no lights)
