hi ive brought a peugeot 206 s reg which has a goodmans GCE780MPT CD Player in, but for some reason wont store anything in memory so when car turned off and on again i have to re-tune,i took stereo out to see for some reason the what i presume is the permanent live (orange) is plugged into ignition live (red) and when i reversed them the fuse on the permanent live blew. any help would be gratly appreciated.

as above, get yourself a test light (a screwdriver with a wire coming out of one end) with no ignition on put the wire end (usually has a crocodile clip) onto the earth wire then touch the other end on wires (this will do no harm) when you get the permanent live the bulb in the screwdriver will light up. now repeat this process with the ignition on & another wire will light up the screwdriver, turn off the ignition off & this should put the light out again, this wire is your remote live,swap this around with the permanent live & this will give you memory when the car is turned off.

There are usually two battery connections. One from the ignition which is the main supply to the radio and the other is a direct feed to the memory circuit (which retains all the settings when the ignition is switched off).
It will be a matter of finding the relevant tags on the GOODMANs radio.
Check the various wiring diagrams on the site below. Unfortunately it doesn`t show the Goodmans but it might have a similar wiring arrangement to the others.
You will find that a mult-meter or test lamp is perhaps best for testing.
