my hotpoint wm52 will not spin?

my hotpoint wm52 will not spin has anyone else had this problem it does all other functions but gets stuck and does not spin... i have checked the belt aand that is fine the drum spins freely by hand....please help if you can ....kimberly.

have you checked the brushes there are 2 of them either side of the motor they are about £10 to replace

I had the same problem and it was the brushes. Mine have gone about 5 times on mine. They're simple enough to do.

check the brushes in the motor if there is only a small amount of carbon replace brushes.
