Mend Servis M7650 Replacing Worked Top

Replacing the thermostat Servis M7650?

Hi Guys, Ive worked out the thermostat needs to be replaced, but i cant find out how to get the top off. Its seems to be glued on to the casing. If i disconnect the old thermostat will the new stat probe just feed into the old hole or does it have to be located specifically to work. Any info you have will be gratefully appreciated.
