when starting car putting gear at D -Drive-..car will not drivin or movin to forward, but on R-reviers working propely,
I did Replaced gearbox oil,and tested car will still not engage drive,
They(gilder VW) said new gearbox recommend to fix fault
New gearbox-automatic- after fitting ,worth £2262, but my
VW golf 1999 worth only £2500 !!
What can I do, help??
I have a VW Golf Automatic. Take up is sometimes slow and engine will then engage suddenly... I am a mechanophobe and assume that the auto clutch//gearbox is on the way out??? Any suggestions??

Look in the phone book for an auto gearbox specialist... they are usually able to fix things like this much cheaper than replacing the box.

Hi, take it to an independant garage the dealership will always charge stupid money, and dont go for a "new" box get a service exchange it will be a lot less
