how to start tv from standby without remote sharp 56fw-53h?

i have been given a sharp 56fw-53h tv,but no remote control with it,it is still on standby.how can i get the tv to switch on to the picture without the remote i have got a remote that will do any tv but cannot get it to work the sharp tv.any ideas please thank you
