How can I fix my Bosch Washing Machine which will not spin?

I have a Bosch WFM 3030 (apprx 9 years old) which will not progress through the cycle. The water enters the machine and I can hear the machine clicking to progress through the cycle, but nothing happens. I have recently heard a grating noise as the machine spins. The drum turns freely and normally manually both by turningt it fon inside and by turning the drive mechanism on the back of the machine.

my washing machine was fixed just a few mounths ago and now is playing up again . my son says its the belt so mhe toook it off and it looks fine to me. but coul it have streched..am i waisting my time going to get a new one..when he put it back on it knoccks out the eletric safety switch.. and be bore all this aweek ago it was spinning like it was dragging an airoplane along... what do you surgest the machine is two yrs old.

check the motor brushes if less than 10mm long replace. on older models also check the air chamber, back bottom of drum opaque chamber with thin hose attatched to top, if blocked with soap/scale clean and check grommet it sits in & clean if necessary good luck!

Have just spent entire Saturday fixing exact same problem on Bosch WFF2000 (8yrs old). Machine ultimately worked after cleaning & securing the wires to the door release switch. Probably not registering the door closed and preventing the motor spinning the drum. I have to say that even now that our machine is ploughing through the backlog, your son's answer demonstrates insight.
