early ford cargo: warning light in center of speedo?
hi folks. my early ford cargo (yep my questions just keep comming - thanks for your help people) has a little red warning light in the center of the speedo. from time to time this comes on for a few minutes while driving. it goes out again equally mysteriously. does any one know what this is indicating? the decal just says "warning" and i dont have a manual. hey! does anyone know where i can buy a manual or a copy of one for this truck? thanks :)
This will be a tachograph unit. Different types but take a Lucas tachograph as an example. 2 different warning lights on dial - one lights up if the tachograph isn't properly closed or if there is no disc in it or if the stylus isn't contacting the disc.
The other light is the pre-set speed warning light - typically this is set at the HGV speed limit - 80 km/hr and illumintaes when you go over that speed.

probably a speed warning light, can be adjusted not sure on this model how, take notice if it comes on at same speed.

The tacho is likely to include an adjustable speed warning that will come on at the speed you want it to. Check out the head and look for a small slot drive adjustable potentiometer!

the lightseems to go on at random speeds. sometimes a little slowly (ie. it winks a few times before deciding to be completely on for a while). it goes off againequally mysteriously. sometimes at full speed , sometimes when at the lights idling!

does it come on at a set speed?and go off when you slow down?

if it was no tacho chart it would be on all the time.

Hi Nic..
I think this light does two things....warn you that you have no tachograph chart in the tacho head and it also lets you kkknow when the speed limiter is activated
