You unscrew the whole plastic bump section there is an allen slot in the centre but you need a big key to fit it. It does jam pretty tight by the time the string runs out.

Try ryobi direct I wanted spares for the 2543 and they sent me back all the exploded drawings with parts and prices by return.
You could try 01614773366 this is their spare parts supplier.

actually i just need to know how to get the trimmer line off. tried to turn the bottom nut but does not move. does the manual tell me something?
