I called Ryobi on 01628 894400 and got the email address from an automated message. I can't put the email address here - it won't let me. I emailed them and they sent me an electonic copy of the user's manual (pdf format)

You unscrew the whole plastic bump section there is an allen slot in the centre but you need a big key to fit it. It does jam pretty tight by the time the string runs out.

actually i just need to know how to get the trimmer line off. tried to turn the bottom nut but does not move. does the manual tell me something?
