I lost my internet connection?

I was re-installing Norton anti virus and my internet connection on my other computer disappeared. Under Network Connections only the "Local Area Connection" shows. My other computers are unaffected so I don't think it is related to my router. I don't know how to get my Internet back on that computer. My computer is a Dell Dimension 8200. It doesn't seem to have any other problems. I have had problems with sluggishness since installing Norton and had uninstalled it (including using the Norton removal tool) and had run RegCure. The problem occurred when I tried to re-install Norton from their website.

Not so much an answer but a "I have the same problem!" Just had to reload my wireless adaptor software.....now I have full strength signal to the router but....no internet! I am trying the above suggestions re. firewall & will get back to you.

Agree with t below

Also download the package from the internet and then install - towards the end of the setup it asks about firewall setting and any networks etc.

Norton 2008 is miles better on resources than any previous version

Norton is well-know as a bit of a resource hog.

What you have done is set a rule in your firewall to block all communication to the Internet by your browser - IE, Firefox, Opera, WHY. The fix is to go into the firewall settings and allow such comms.
