What is wrong with my Baxi Boiler?

After lighting the pilot light using the grey button and ignition switch the burners light up and go out again after about 30 seconds. After re-lighting several times the pilot and burner eventually stays on but does not re-ignite when the timer calls for heating again. It appears that the pilot does not stay on unless the boilers burners are ignited.
