Spark Plug gap for Mountfield Empress 16 is 0.030" (0.75mm). Advice from Briggs & Stratton is NOT to use an abrasive cleaning machine and to replace the plug if electrodes are burnt away and/or porcelain is cracked. Hope this helps. Rob
