how can i get my Peugeot 307 to start?

Cheers Nigel, get what yoyr meaning now (bit thick me!!). Cheers for the info, i have had the crankshaft and sensor changed so i will have a blast at the coolent temp sensor. Im also understanding now what you mean about the stealership and the printouts. Thats why they wouldnt give me a copy then!! I have noticed a couple of times a high pitched whurr coming from the engine while the ignition is turned but waiting for the immobiliser to actually work and when it does (the immobiliser) it makes fairly loud noise. Its just frustrating at the minute. thanks for all your help and i will e-mail you over the next couple of days.

Hi Ronnie, the method described in the site is for pre 98 models only,these are known as "flash codes" later models have the worldwide standard 16 pin EOBD connector which is located under the dash to the right of the steering wheel, and the only method to read the codes is with a code reader/diagnostic computer, if would like I can mail you the info on your system contact me on nige110162@hotmail.co.uk as a shot in the dark i would go for either the coolant temp sensor or the crank speed/position sensor???

hi nigel, according to the web site, (peugeotdiesels) i pull the lead from the ECU that plugs into the computer and put a piece of wire into port 1, then earth the wire. then (apparently) a sequence of codes will come up on the dash?? Does that make sense to you ar should i just ignore this advice? (lets just say im better at dealing with intruder alarms than cars!!)

Hi Ronnie, the method on that website I dont think it will work on your car as yours should have the standard 16 pin EOBD socket under the dash to the right of the steering wheel, the method on the site is for pre EOBD cars and the other problem is that even though by year of manufacture your car should by EEC law conform to the EOBD standards the french manufacturers pug&renault seem to have their own interperation of this and sometimes only the main stealerships diagnostics can properly read any faults as I have found on a renault no faults recorded on my generic code reader but on the stealerships heypresto fault codes

cheers nigel, i've had it on a test and apparently the system shows up a fault and then says no faults but wont show history. I have found a way to check the memory without a computer but not got round to doin it yet. I will take it to someone tho, its worth a try. If not its a good old litre of fuel (if i got a spare 20 quid) and a match!!

Hi Ronnie, take it to any independant garage or some tyre & exhaust places for around £30~40 they will do a computer diagnostic readout of any stored faults it sounds like one of the sensors could be telling the ECU its too hot to start!!
