speedometer problem!!?

I have a Peugeot 206 2001 and I noticed last week that the speedometer isn't working properly.the needle has dropped to the bottom of the dial when i stop and is registering 5mph when i'm doing about 35mph!!! help!! Peugeot dealer told me that the whole unit needs replacing and the part costs £350!! is this the case???

I am going through the same problem right now. I will go and buy one from a scrap yard and replace it. Not worth spending £600 for a whole new dash!

Yo lads the wee coils in the back of your dails are probaly gone

this happened me as well i got a second hand instrument panel

from a scrap dealer for £30 in portglenone n.ireland and

replaced it myself real easy

Look on ebay. there are loads of cheap dials/clocks on there.

sorry cant help you except to say you are not alone.i have exactly the same problem.Will let you know if I find a cheaper solution
