hotpoint aquarious WMA31 Door not working?

Ours has started to do exactly the same thing but if you give the door a firm push without opening it first it goes out and the program starts. I suspect that it is just wear and tear on the door lock mechanism.

tHE DOOR LIGHT FLASHING COULD ALSO BE CAUSED BY A BLOCKED FILTER, A FAULTY CONTROL MODULE, A PRESSURE SWITCH FAULT, A PUMP PROBLEM OR WATER VALVE.THE DOOR LIGHT FLASHING IS AN INDICATOR THAT YOU HAVE A FAULT. ONE LAST THING CHECK THE DOOR RELEASE LEVER SOMETIMES THEY LOSE THERE TENSION AND DONT APPLY ENOUGH FORCE ON THE INTERLOCK

Sounds like the switch may have failed. I would see about replacing the switch as it can only cost about £10 I would imagine. Alternatively, you could arrange for an engineer to come out and repair it for you.
