Mend Mercruiser 470 Keeps Getting Hot

my 470 mercruiser keeps getting hot?

I tried to take the front cover off but do I have to pull the harmonic balancer off?There is play in what appears to be the water pump impellar!Could this be my problem and what exactly do I have to replace and remove?470 mercrusier inboard in a 78' Ranger fish and play model!

ONCE THE ENGINE GETS HOT THE WATER TRANSFER TUBE FROM IMPELLOR WILL MELT SO YOU NEED NEW IMPELLOR AND TUBE IN THE LEG.
