I had similar problem, I called up the service guy and he did it over the phone it was very Simple. In X mode hit clear sign, and then tun the key to Reg mode and hit clear sign. that is all it needed for my machine. Hope it help some you.
My register is G-3800

i had a similar problem. look at the screen and take a look to see if the clerk i.d. light is on (it is a green line right above it). just messing around i found that if this light is out one must turn the key to program. then on the number pad type what number clerk you are (i am the owner so i am number 1). then hit the clerk i.d. button about the number pad. notice the green bar should appear over clerk i.d. once that is on turn the key to reg. and it should be fixed (provided the problem is the same as mine).

I used to be the exclusive North American Distributor
for Gold Products 3 yearts ago I serviced the full line
G2150 thru G3800/15 . Check to see that one of the keys
is not stuck down. If that is not it try a hard reset which requires you to remove the case and short out(connect Together) the two wire jumpers on the component side of the PCB EXample ! unplug machine put ,in reg mode
short two jumpers (a penny works fine) now while still shorting jumpers together Plug ac back in, Printer should cycle printing dots or stars. If this is succesfull
you can log on using default setting ( clerk ID 1 ).
you will have to reprogram unit. If this is not good
the next thing is battery backup (soldered into board)
Lastly if the machine has been setting unplugged for a long period Try plugging it in for 48 hours to try to charge up the battery again.

Hi. I haven't worked with this model, but it usually means you haven't finished in one mode before turning the key. Try turning the key to each position, and press clear in each mode. If it stops beeping in a certain mode, try then pressing cash or no sale.
