Is it the cigeret lighter that your trying to use, or is it something that uses the power from it - phone charger or something else?
Have you tried these in another car?
Maybe a fuse or dirty contacts within the socket.

Probably just a blown fuse, nestling deep inside the fuse box under the dash. There should be a picture on the lid to guide you as to which fuse it is.
