you havn't said wot year the van is but if its a 2000 on model check the earth lead that runs from the battery to the floor it could be rusty

sounds like you have an earth problem try putting a jump leed from battery earth to engine block if this deosent work put a wire from small terminal on starter an touch to psitive on battery
