Logon as Administrator. Usually no password needed as the default. If XP insists on a password you'll need to get ti from the person who sold you the ThinkPad.
It is possible to crack XP passwords but I don';t put that kind of stuff on an open forum - and nor should anyone else. So acomputer shop may be able to help you.
