You need a long shafted wrench, like the ones you use to change wheel nuts. I had the same problem and my 50 year old father in law had one knocking around his garage from before the war! lol
So I know thats not much help but hopefully points you in the right direction.

Hi Toyota multi-valve engines usually require the use of a 3/8 drive socket set plug key to get down the hole for the plug,cause i've used various 1/2 drive plug sockets and they r just to big.(outer diameter of the socket)

the hole in cam cover bis two small for a spenner to go through.

any spark plug that is located deep inside any cylinder head CAN be reached using a 10" EXTENSION BAR and SPARK PLUG connected to a ratchet drive.( you may have to buy this bar as does not come in the small socket sets that you buy classed as a accessory piece)
