How to keep your room cold?

Not a question, just advice. During the hot days, closing your curtains during the day will help keep the hot air outside. On returning home, opening the windows will circulate cold air into the room, thus expelling the hot air as well.

Please note, opening your windows during the day is not advisable unless you live in a block of flats etc., as this is an open invitation to burgulars.

Just great..... readers not only putting burglars outta biznezz, but putting men into obsolescence as well.

Anyway, on the subject of fans, I normally place electric fans in strategic locations throughout the house and leave them running continuously day and night in conjunction with the air conditioning. Thereby, I am able to get by with leaving the thermostat setting at a considerably higher temperature yet staying cool, calm, and comfortable during the hotdog days. Since fan motors don't pull much of a load once they've reached operating speed, they don't use nearly as much electricity as an A/C unit at a lower thermostat setting, and you'll save money. But on the other hand, aesthetics are more important to some people than economy, and they'd rather forego having the fans sitting around here and there in favor of paying higher electric bills.
