Mend Ford Escort Fitted Diesel Van

How can you tell if a new cambelt has been fitted to my Escort diesel van?

Hi, can anyone tell me how you can check if a new cambelt has been fitted? The reason I ask is that I have aquired a van and the chap I got it from assures me that the cambelt has been changed but he has lost the receipt! - Is there any way I could physically check to see If he is telling the truth?

Hi Matt, unless you strip the covers off you might be lucky and find a date stamp on the belt otherwise there will be no proof that it is a new belt and if you have gone that far you might as well put a new belt on yourself
