how can i release the rear middle seat belt on a ford mondeo?
have just bought an S reg ford mondeo and the centre rear seatbelt is locked and won't pull out.it's a full seatbelt (like the side belts). i had a friend look (who is not a mechanic but knows his way around a mondeo) and he took off the back cover, and there doesn't seem anyway to get into the back of the seat. how can we release it without replacing the back seats as it is registered as a 5 seater and i have been told it's an automatic MOT fail. Any help is greatly appreciated
apprentaly there is a little release button on the back of the buckle you can accessthis button and push it in with a straightend piece of a key ring or a straight paper clip.i have looked but cannot see it but someone else could.good luck.

Aha , with mine 03 tdci I just lower the seats as if making more load space and slam it back into place and it works fine , my mot tester showed me his technical prowess on this topic.

You must make sure the back seat is locked right back, if it is'nt the belt will lock. The orange on the button on top of the seat must not be visible.

the rear seat belts you will have 2 fully retractable ones (one either side) THE MIDDLE IS A LAP BELT ONLY
THE BELT ENDS ARE EVEN DIFFERENT TO STOP YOU GOING INTO THE WRONG FITTING
