Mend Citroën Xsara 1.4 Petrol 02 Plate

engine noise?

i have a xsara 1.4 manual gearbox petrol 02 plate, when the engine is running i am getting a lot of noise from the fan belt area like an high pitched squeak, this is not the fan belt slipping as i have renewed it already and there is no slip in the new one, it appears to be coming from one of the wheels which drive the fan belt but i am unsure. has anyone else experienced similar that could point me in the right direction.

If it's not the fan belt it's most likely to be, as you say, one of the pulleys. They don't normally squeal, but if one of them was (partially) seized, the belt would squeal as it went over it. Any problems with any other systems on the car (e.g. power steering, aircon, battery not charging?). If so, the relevant pulley for that item could be seized.
