How can I fix my Hotpoint WF541 washing machine?

Two options. Either disconnect the sump hose from bottom of drum and try to wiggle the item out. If that doesnt work you'll have to disconnect and remove the heater which should give another vantage point
Power off, remove back cover. Heater is located at bottom of drum. Disconnect wiring, undo central mounting nut and prise it out of its rubber seal - may require some effort. Replace heater, use sealant when refitting rubber seal.
