we have a sony waio VGX-XL 100 media centre, my husband is away and its not working which is typical! It keeps starting up then going to the desktop but no icons appear and then the tv screen goes black with white wavy lines then it turns itself off and reboots and it keeps doing this over and over again.
This is a typical problem with the motherboard. Maybe it was put under a lot of stress before and hence the motherboard needs to get a repair. Y dun u take this laptop to the nearest Vaio service center and get the motherboard repaired? I can tell u that there is no software solution to this issue. The display adapter or the inverter is broke.
