How to unlock my computer?

Well my problem is that when I tried to set a supervisor password it didn't set correctly so no all that comes up is a black screen asking for my password but when I type it in it won't accept it. I am running on windows xp proffesional. It is a gateway I'm not quite sure of the model.

Ya windows never loads. It gives me three tries at the password and I tried every password that it could've been. This is exactly what happened: I went to the boot screen and when I went to go try to set a supervisor password I must've clicked something wrong because what I typed in was incorrect. I think I might have hit enter without typing anything in but then Everytime I try to find out the password it doesn't work
