It could also be that the splines have worn, check to see if nut is tight if so, remove it, take the wiper arm off and look to see if grooves on the spline have worn away - Brian

sounds like linkage to one wiper come adrift or nut come loose where wiper arm fits to spindle.

could simply mean changing the fuse for your wipers. locate the fuse box and head to local garage and you can buse a box of fuses for a a few penies.
