ERRRR yeah diesels do work off electrics! they can run (direct injection) if you force the fuel on (overide the solonoied) if your hdi low pressure pump for example is inoperative you will not get your car running! I think what you mean is they dont have spark plugs which then you would be correct! Imran you are correct they do self bleed (hopefully)

So if you say you have connected the low pressure pump to the battery and it still didnt start are you sure it was working can you hear it pumping! take the feed to the filter housing off and switch the ignition on you should get a short splurt out the housing as the pump primes the low pressure system! Now THIS IS IMPORTANT did you switch the ignition on and walk round and check the supply???? If so you havent allowed enough time for yourself! Get your missis sit her in the car now you measure voltage and then get her to switch it on it will only hold voltage for a few seconds!

Also if electrics dont control diesels you try starting it after the inertia switch has activated (big red button near the ecu) just make sure its pressed in!

Hope this helps and remeber take everything you read on the internet with a pinch of salt!!

I recommed you search the honestjohn forums!

Good luck

HDI engines are self bleeding, so don’t worry about air in the system. I think the gentleman must mean the pick up pump in the tank, as the main fuel pump is driven off the Timing belt. Who has tested the pump?
It might be worth puling the pipe off the fuel filter canister, and turning on the ignition (not start) and see if you get a squirt of fuel, if you do, then the electric pick up pump is working ok, and you need the main pump tested.
OK so you say that you have fuel at the injectors, but not through them? This must mean the main pump is ok? BUT how on earth did you test this? You are a brave man! A Hdi pump can fire diesel right through your skin into you blood stream. Anyway...if you really don’t have fuel through ALL of your injectors, i.e they are all not firing then you need to look towards sensors, wiring and the ECU and sadly only Peugeot or a garage with diagnostic computer can help you.
Hope this helps mate, good luck.

Sounds like it could just need bleeding. Undo the bleed nuts and there should be like a rubber ball type thing to squeeze to pump the air out of the system, once all the air bubbles have stopped coming out and neat fuel comes through, tighten the nuts back up and try that. Diesel engines don't work off electrics, they work off compression so any air locks will prevent it from starting. This also had to be done if you ever run out of fuel this. Failing that the lift pump may not be working. - Brian
