The brush spindle should rotate freely on the two mounting knobs at each end. (These fit in the moulded housing inside the vacuum head.) These will jam with dog hair, etc. Free the brush spindle from the housing by pulling it out of the housing-- you do not need to remove the drive belt to do this procedure. Pull the knobs off each end of the brush spindle (may need to pry gently if jammed too badly) and clean them, remove hair wrapped around the inside of the knob shaft, then pop them back on-- press firmly to seat fully. They mount on a rod that runs thru the center of the brush spindle. Replace spindle inside housing, sliding knobs into moulded slots on each side and re-secure floor plate.
