Video path alignment on AKAI VHS VCR VS-F490 DX 4head?

The abovementioned VCR has Audio Dubbing facilities which I use often. The video tape path is out of alignment; the picture on screen jumps & the sound (audio)warbles !! How can this be corrected? Is it set manually or electronically by means of testing equipment?I have tried Auto Tracking aswell as Manual Tracking without any improvement at all !

Akai Video, Cassette Recorders

This could be due to a number of reasons. Assuming the mechanism has not been adjusted since the fault first made an appearance, I would first clean the entire tape path including the capstan, video heads and the A/C head, replace the pinch roller and check/replace the back tension band.
