Need help with my Kenmore, clothes come out sopping wet?

Hi, Everyone, The new year didn't get off to a good start in terms of repair issues. My car needs a new catalytic converter ($$$$) and now its the washer's turn. My Kenmore, Model 110.18702790 is about 10 years old. The machine washes OK and does spin on all cycles. But the spin is not fast enough or strong enough so the clothes come out heavy and wet. The last load was just one small bath mat that came out dripping wet. I seem to remember a few months ago hearing a loud squeaking-like sound on the spin cycle. But it worked fine after that so I just thought maybe the load was off balance. Help! Thanks in advance.

Hi. I had the same problem with my Blomberg machine. I'm not sure if this will help but it fixed my problem, so may work for you. At the rear of outer drum at the bottom is a small pipe about 1/4 wide connected to an elbow pushed into the outer drum. This leads up to a diaphragm type device at the top of the machine. Its obviously an air pressure sensitive switch, what it does I'm not sure!! Anyway I found the elbow was blocked with soap powder slurry, in my machine its a tight push fit. remove the elbow, clean out all debris, clean its locating hole and refit. blow up the pipe and you should hear a click from the diaphragm. I guess its water level sensor, but how it ties in with the spin, again I'm not sure!! It worked for me so may be worth a try! Obviously disconnect from the mains first!!!
