The positive is under a red cover on the right hand side the negative is a metal loop on the left hand side of the engine

You don't seem to clued up John yet you attempt to answer anyway.
My guess is the trouble you are having trouble finding the battery terminals is because it is under the driver seat!

If the battery isn't immediately obvious it will be hidden under a plastic cover which you'll need to remove. You can then connect your charger, red to red and black to black. Avoid any sparks!
