What is the problem when the dw causes the main fuse in the house to trip?

When switched on to do a wash it trips the main fuse in the house - and will not work when the main switch has been re-set. Other appliances in the kitchen are working fine!
The socket, fuse and plug are OK - they have been checked.
The front panel has been removed and no broken wires were spotted. The only thing that looks odd is that the LED for the on/off indicator looks blown.
The trip is blowing because of a spike or surge of current when the Bosch is powered up. This could be caused by almost anything and can be dangerous. Get a repair person to check the washing machine out - quickly.
