Mend Vauxhall Vectra 2.5 V6 SRI Air Drivers Side

mystery vent in vectra boot!!!?

i have an air vent in my boot behind the panel on the drivers side it is letting in water and causing damp, any ideas what this vent is for and how i can stop the water coming in? (sreg vectra 2.5 v6 sri)

possibly for -through flow ventilation, air has to exit vehicle somewhere when heater motor is on,may require sealing where it fixes to body.(there is usually a rubber flap fitted to allow air to only pass to outside)hope this helps.
