Mend Boat Motor Outboard

Boat to motor Ratio?

I have a 13'11" v-hull aluminum jon boat with a 20hp outboard. I want to put a larger outboard on but I'm not sure how big I can go. What is the "rule of thumb" so to speak when it comes to boat to motor ratio's?

There should be a plate on the transom that tells you the max HP motor for your boat. It should also tell you the person/weight capacity of the boat.
