Pressure gauge goes up?

I have a Worcester 24i boiler. The pressure on the guage increases when hot water is caled for. Reaches the 3 bar mark.
I am right in thinking this is a diverter valve issue?
Cheers
Eric.

if this boiler is a 24i there is no diverter valve, the pump operates only in ch mode instead, fault is most probably exp vess needing recharged.

Well the last 24hrs has shown the pressure to be stable, no mad rise at all. 1 bar when cold and just under 2 when hot.
I did wonder about other info I read about firstly putting pressure into the expansion vessel with a pump.
I will keep an eye on it over the next few days.
thanks for all your input.

personally i'd say its the expansion vessell either split inside or no air in it! the expansion vessell tajes up the expanding pressure of the water when heated but if the expansion vessell has no air in it, it rises up too high and dumps the water out of the pressure relief pipe!

kev!

OK Thanks for that, boiler working overtime at the moment on CH so will try it when the system is cold. I have noticed in the past that when the hot water has finished being run there is a distinct wooshing sound of water movement in the kitchen radiator presumably as the diverter valve closes.

could be the diverter valve letting by,
check to see if it is heating the central heating flow pipe
when the hot water tap is running

Hi,
No the pressure stays up and the pressure relief drips water outside because it is near to 3 bar.
The only way to reduce the pressure is to manually open the relief valve.
The pressure when set at 1 bar from cold runs at under 2 bar when the heating is on.
The rise only seems to go above 2 bar when hot water is running.
Cheers Eric
