how do i change the battery in my passat deisel?

Dude - Its not easy, theres a plastic cover running below the windshield that makes extracting the battery almost impossible. Te battery itself will be bolted in at the base - You'll need a long extension from a socket set to reach it. You can try to take off the plastic cover that is a clear design flaw - but its a mare to put back on.

Also - be careful if you choose to leave it on, its very likly to crack the plasic if you force it - also there are some copper hoses that can be ruined if you try to much argy-bargy getting it out
