LDV Pilot starting problem?

LDV PIlot van. when vehicle has over half a tank of diesel it starts first time every time. When less than half,the vehicle fails to start first time from cold and appears to be out of fuel. After three or four attempts it will finally draw fuel through and will start and then run fine all day. confused, so am I. LDV Pilot, Peugeot engine, 1900, T, 99. I have already changed the hand prime, this changed nothing.

Fuel line replaced from tank to pick up pump
Van runs perfect after started keep running crack
1injector at a time till fuel spurts out then tighten
Then do same with rest I got clear line from b&q
So can see fuel hope helps we've had months of hell trying to fix it on a ldv convoy

L d v convoy pickup 2.5d ford engine when it starts runs on tick over but when I drive it it cuts out I think when it's warm doesent cut out on tick over can run all day standing on my driveway but soon as I go any were is breaks down p.s we tried fuel filter 4th injector . Stop start Celonode it's doing my head in only broke down 4 times this week l o l

try the fuel pipes on top off tank might be coreded and letyting air in

Hi all, I have a Pilot with an alarm system fitted. I went to start it and it is refusing, the heater light comes up and it turns over fine, but wont cough. I think the alarm system is malfunctioning and stopping it from starting. Is there any way I can check this?

hi pete peteits me again when it does breakdown it act as though tank is vacumming bui its not cus its happens with fuel cap off let me know if you sort it cheers

hi pete ive got same problem with a friends pilot when it breaks down the primer pump diaprham is stuck in and if crack off main fuel pipe it starts priming and runs cheers let me know if you solve it and i wil let you know when i get some info

sounds like it,s drawing air somewhere, check full length of fuel lines for any chaffing or damage where air could enter,check flexible connector pipes to tank unit and at front connector pipe also.(make sure no one has repaired pipe by joining it)pipe should be 1 piece between flex connectors!

I can't say I know for certain, but the fuel pump would be worth looking at. If it is stiff when cold it could cause the symptoms you mention, including the easier starting on a fuller tank.
