You can also get me to supply and fit one. Prices start from £120 for a 15.4" LCD screen.

Or take a look at my blog http://www.laptop-guy.com/blog/

a laptop screen is very easy to change
you can do a bit of a search on the net to try and find out what screen you have but the best method is to remove the one you have and get the make and part number
Used lcd's are readily available on ebay
To remove the screen it is just a case of prizing out the rubber plugs around the front bezel, under these you will find screws once these are removed the bezel will clip off the screen can then be detached and the two cables removed one video cable and one inverter cable
Do the ebay search on whoever makes the screen part number
unlikely to be a sony screen probably hitachi, toshiba or lg/philips

Generally, yes. Screens can be a bit expensive though, but usually its just a matter of fitting the ribbon cable to the base of the laptop and screwing it to the hinges. I do have a dell though, not a Sony. Knowing Sony they have some ridiculously hard routine for fitting a new screen. On my dell, there are only actually 3 points of contact. The two hinges and the ribbon cable. The hinges are literally screwed in, and the ribbon cable clips just under the keyboard. But thats only because it comes with the bezel already fitted. If you get a screen on its bare own, then someone with technical knowledge of a sony will need to help you there mate. Sorry i cant be of anymore help.
